Llansantffraed Court Wedding Event

We recently participated in the styling (in conjunction with Love Lily Florists and White Crafts Stationery) of Llansantffraed Court for their annual wedding event. The premise was to create a series of individually styled tables that incorporated a myriad of ideas specific to a particular theme and hopefully create inspiration for couples planning their special day. Check out our Facebook page for more photos of the event.

Cottage Garden Charm: relaxed festival brights meets afternoon tea

This table, with a rustic twist, featured a buttercream cake with bright, fresh floral decoration and accents of raffia.

Gothic Romance: hues of red with accents of black to create a dramatic statement

This table, with a nod to all things Gothic, featured a cake with hand piped pearl drop garlands, a Gothic arch inspired hand piped border and rich red hand made icing roses.

Understated Chic White: pure white with touches of metallic silver - elegant simplicity

The cake displayed on this table featured handmade icing peonies, vintage pearls and a hand beaded design to the third tier which replicated a stunning bridal gown.

American Rustic au Naturel: hessian, succulents and a dash of fresh peach

This design featured a simple cascade of handmade icing succulents, roses and ranunculus in hues of green and peach with rustic ribbon detailing.

Vintage Austen: period romance - lace, pearls and delicate muted shades

This set up was truly dedicated to the romance of Jane Austen. The cake featured hand made icing roses and hydrangeas in delicate hues of ivory, pink and peach; hand piped embroidery detailing and beautiful vintage lace.

Country Fete: Fresh lemon, white and yellow - a little ray of sunshine

This Cath Kidston inspired cake featured handmade icing bows, hand painted tiers and hand painted icing bunting - perfect for a vintage fete theme.

Nia's Lace Wedding Cake

This four tier design created for Nia & Nathan was inspired by Nia's stunning bridal gown by renowned Welsh designer, Stephanie Allin. The cake encapsulated vintage elegance in hues of cream, and fitted perfectly with the timeless beauty of the venue. The bottom tiers of the cake were adorned with satin ribbon overlayed with the delicate lace that that was the focal point of the bodice and detail to the bridal gown (the lace was kindly supplied by Stephanie Allin). The oval brooch to the second tier echoed the shapes featured in the bride's headdress and was customised with Swarovski pearls to compliment the bridal headdress and jewellery. The third and fourth tiers featured bespoke, hand cut icing lace that replicated the pattern of the lace on the bridal gown. The cake was completed with Swarovski pearl detail to the rear, again in reference to the buttoning on the bridal gown. The cake itself featured tiers of rich Belgian chocolate cake filled with layers of sumptuous Belgian chocolate ganache, classic Victoria sponge with strawberry conserve and light vanilla buttercream, and moist carrot cake filled with luxurious, spiced mascarpone.

Orchids & Roses

This design, displayed on an acrylic stand, featured a traditional top tier, mini-cakes and cupcakes. The top tier was accented with hand piped icing dots, overlayed organza and satin ribbons and a Swarovski crystal band to compliment the  hand-modelled, icing bride and groom. The mini-cakes, hand piped with icing dots and featuring organza and satin ribbons to echo those of the top tier, were topped with striking, handmade sugar orchids to compliment those incorporated in the floral displays at the venue. The cupcakes were swirled with a "rosette" of buttercream and topped with handmade sugar roses, hydrangeas and blossoms in hues of ivory and pink. The colour theme was continued to the table with scattered petals and an organza bow to complete the overall display. In addition to the cake were traditional home baked Welsh Cake favours for guests which were wrapped in individual bags, hand tied with a pretty organza ribbon and completed with a sparkly gift tag. The top tier cake was a rich fruit cake with the mini-cakes and cupcakes comprising a selection of Victoria sponge (filled with strawberry conserve), luscious lemon sponge (filled with zesty lemon curd) and chocolate cake (filled with chocolate ganache) all topped with vanilla buttercream.

Romantic roses, bows & crystals

This striking five tier design encapsulated a romantic feel with a modern twist. Each tier of the cake was decorated with a band of pretty, cream ribbon roses handmade from icing and a handmade icing bow to alternate sides. To the base of each tier, and adding a modern element to the design, was a satin ribbon topped with a handstrung band of stunning Swarovski crystals which sparkled in the sunlight that swathed the venue. The cake was arranged on a stand featuring fresh hydrangeas and this added extra impact and height to the completed display. The cake itself included tiers of rich Belgian chocolate cake filled with layers of rich Belgian chocolate ganache; moist, spiced carrot cake with cinnamon flavoured mascapone filling and zingy lemon cake with luscious lemon curd and lemoncello buttercream filling.

Vintage Lace & Roses Cupcakes

This design featured a rich fruit top tier cake hand decorated with icing lace to give a shabby chic, vintage feel. Displayed below the top tier on an 8 tier acrylic stand were 120 cupcakes decorated in varying hues of cream. The cupcake decorations included roses, country blossoms, ribbons and pearls all handmade from icing. A proportion of the cupcakes were topped with swirly buttercream sprinkled with sparkles with the remainder featuring hand embossed fondant tops. The cases were an eclectic mix of plain cases, cases encircled with hand tied ribbon bows and cupcake wrappers all of which echoed the shabby chic, vintage theme. The cupcakes were all moist vanilla sponge filled with a rich vanilla buttercream and luscious raspberry jam.

Blue Skies Wedding Cake

Following a romantic proposal whilst cloud watching on the Skirrid Mountain in Abergavenny, Alex and Huw wanted a cake that would reflect this special moment. The bride selected a chic, understated design incorporating the couples initials and accented with sky blue ribbon. The stunning flowers were provided by Love Lily with the baby's breath echoing the weightlessness of the white clouds. The tiers were displayed on a set-back stand in order to produce the illusion of the cakes floating like clouds in the sky and looked truly stunning in the swathes of sunlight that bathed the beautiful reception room at Llansantffraed Court. The cake was a classic Victoria sponge filled with vanilla buttercream and raspberry preserve.
