Christmas Gingerbread Cakes

What better excuse to have the aroma of gingerbread in your house for Christmas than making mini gingerbread bird houses to sit on top of Christmas cakes? 

The first design, with a beach hut twist, was created for one of our couples who were married earlier in the year.

The second gingerbread house featured a more traditional colour scheme - holly, snowflakes, a cute robin and a touch of sparkly snow (fingers crossed for some real white stuff soon - well after this week's delivery anyway!!) 

A Hint of Dove Grey

This delicate two tier design featured sugar roses, peonies and blossoms; hand piped lace embroidery, vintage pearls and a dove grey satin bow - perfect for an intimate wedding.

Lady Grantham Vintage Cupcakes

Inspired by the romantic period drama, Downton Abbey - lace, cameos, bows, pearls and roses, a perfect birthday gift.

Snow Drift Wedding Cake

This design, which the Bride & Groom had fallen for when we displayed it at a wedding fayre, included a myriad of drifting icing and Swarovski crystal snowflakes with a touch of hot pink to mirror the colour scheme of the day.

Thoroughly Modern Monochrome Ruffles

This modern design, in a monochrome palette, featured a ruffled flower with cascading petals. The cascading petals echoed the ruffled design to the back of the beautiful bridal gown. Perfect for a chic, fashionista. 

Boutique Lace Wedding Cake

This bijoux sized, dainty design featured vintage lace and a cascade of hydrangea blossoms - simple, understated and elegant.

Lace Opulence Wedding Cake

Lady Mary

This vintage five tier design was influenced by the styling of Downton Abbey and the stunning bridal gown. The cake featured hand piped scalloped lace embroidery and sash, pearl drop borders, a hand painted monogram and handmade icing roses and hydrangeas in hues of peach and ivory. The vintage pearls completed the elegant, understated design.

Tropical Skies

This cake was inspired by the Bride & Groom’s wedding abroad with a cascade of brightly coloured tropical flowers in hues of pink, purple, blue, orange, yellow and green and cocktail themed cake flavours.

Afternoon tea with Barbra

This cake was designed to celebrate a special birthday. The birthday girl had been treated to afternoon tea in London followed by a Barbra Streisand concert, so the cake was designed to bring back these special memories. The vintage tea cup replicated the one used by The Langham hotel, where the family had had afternoon tea, and was filled with handmade icing flowers. The hand painted sheet music featured some of Barbra Streisand’s most loved songs.

Country Blooms

This four design featured an abundance of handmade icing blooms in hues of pink, blue and ivory to replicate the bridal bouquet. The cake was completed with delicate vintage lace and satin ribbon to create and elegant, sophisticated feel.

Victorian Lace

This elegant design featured hand piped, scalloped lace brush embroidery complete with a dainty lace bow. The cake was displayed on a plinth of fresh flowers for a pretty, delicate feel.

Golden Years

This cake was created to mark a very special milestone anniversary - 50 golden years. The two tier design featured a cascade of roses, orchids and hydrangeas in hues of ivory and golden yellow.

Bobbins & Lace Wedding Cake

This elegant, vintage lace design included icing roses, freesias and snowberries in hues of muted pink and purple. The cake was displayed on a vintage desk which was accented by period items including keys, wooden bobbins, a vintage sewing machine, teacup and lace runner all completed by floral accents.

Rustic Brights Window Display

This modern, rustic styled window was the second of two displays created in conjunction with love lily for the Abergavenny Food Festival. The bright paper lanterns suspended from the ceiling complimented the colour palette of the amazing floral accents and contrasted perfectly with the wood of the vintage ladder and trolley. The focal cake was simply iced and decorated with fresh flowers and raffia with the naked cake featuring flowers and physalis. The vintage ladder was perfect for displaying pretty, rustic flower pots, mini, coloured naked sponges and cupcakes.

Jane Austen Window Display

This display was created in conjunction with love lily to celebrate Abergavenny Food Festival and was inspired by the novels of Jane Austen. The styling included a vintage desk, Jane Austen books, a vintage sewing machine, hat boxes, pearls, tea cups, vintage keys and quotes from Jane Austen novels suspended from the ceiling - not forgetting the cakes and amazing flowers.

Vintage Days

This elegant three tier design was hand piped with vintage lace embroidery to each tier and completed with an arrangement of icing peonies, roses and lily of the valley.

Modern Ruffled Flowers

A simple, modern design in hues of silver and white with ruffled flowers and a little crystal sparkle.

Las Vegas Two Times

This cake was created for a 30th birthday celebration and echoed the Las Vegas casino theme for the celebration - hot pink, black and silver set against a white cake.

The design included a hand cut icing Vegas skyline, hand painted playing cards and Las Vegas sign, poker chips and a little bit of glamour with hot pink feathers.

Rustic Raffia & Sumptuous Fruit Naked cake

This four tier naked cake was decorated with an abundance of berries, red currants and figs; accented with raffia and displayed on a rustic wooden plinth.

This four tier design encapsulated the peacock feather wedding theme and definitely had a touch of The Great Gatsby. The peacock feathers, pearl and crystal brooch and vintage glass stand created an understated, elegant vintage feel.

Vintage Sunflowers

This single tier and cupcakes in hues of ivory and pale green were accentuated with a pop of sunshine yellow from the icing sunflowers. The design of the top tier included vintage lace, pearls and icing sunflowers with the cupcakes including a myriad of cameos, bows, pearls, lace, sunflowers and Gatsby style gents tuxedos.

Sophisticated Obi Bow Wedding Cake

This sophisticated, stylish four tier design featured hand piped lace brush embroidery detail to alternate tiers with the focal point being an Obi bow with Swarovski crystal and pearl embellishments to replicate the stunning bridal gown. The third tier which featured the Obi bow also included an icing gather with Swarovski pearl detailing to replicate the buttoning on the rear of the Bride's gown. 

Miss Crawley Vintage Roses

This four tier design featured an abundance of icing roses and hydrangeas with cascading rose petal details. The delicate hues of ivory and pink were accented with dainty hand piped dots and completed with lace and delicate pink ribbon bows. 

Silver Wedding Anniversary Cake

Created for a milestone anniversary celebration, this design featured a silver lustre dusted base tier and a white top tier to give a crisp, modern feel. The modern was juxtaposed with vintage by the addition of hand piped lace brush embroidery to both tiers, accented with a pretty lace bow detail and a hand painted plaque.

Vintage Lace, Roses & Orchids Wedding Cake

This four tier design featured a cascade of roses, orchids, and hydrangea blossoms in hues of cream, coral and green. Each tier was accented with pearls and hand-piped lace embroidery - the finishing touch a hand-painted monogram. The cake was displayed on our vintage desk which was decorated with an array of co-ordinating cupcakes, pretty vintage tea cups and fresh flowers. We were lucky enough to get a sneaky peek of the beautiful bride just before she boarded the amazing London bus to travel to the church. The marquee looked stunning and fitted perfectly in the amazing countryside setting, with breathtaking views. We also baked 122 Welsh cake favours for the guests - each favour featured a hand written tag and was hand-tied with a coral ribbon.

Gone Fishing!

Fishing themed cake - a surprise for the Groom's birthday at one of our recent weddings. A hand modelled fisherman bobbing along in his boat trying to land the catch of the day.

Floral Cascade Wedding Cake

This four tier design featured a cascade of ivory ruffle flowers with crystal and diamante accents to the centres. The regal purple ribbon gave an elegant, sophisticated feel to the otherwise all ivory cake.

Regal Purple Bridal Sash Wedding Cake

This three tier design featured icing, ruffle flowers with crystal and pearl centres and was completed by a sparkling diamante, crystal and pearl bridal sash.

Cath Kidston Birthday Cake

Vintage, hand painted Cath Kidston inspired birthday cake with hand painted bunting and icing bows in pastel shades.

Secret Garden Butterflies

The Bride & Groom wanted to incorporate butterflies and a secret garden theme into their cake design, so opted for icing flowers to the base with hand painted, accent butterflies to each of the three tiers. A simple, pretty design in hues of lilac, purple, pink and ivory which was displayed on a stone plinth with moss and trailing ivy truly reminiscent of a garden.

Mint Lace

This delicate cake in hues of mint and ivory was created for a special birthday celebration. The circumference of the cake featured a dainty lace design with small blossom accents. Ivory ranunculus, hydrangea blossoms and a gift tag adorned the top of the cake completing the fresh, crisp feel.

Lace Opulence

This five tier design included hand piped lace brush embroidery to the base, third and top tiers to echo that featured on the elegant bridal gown. The second and fourth tiers featured regal icing gathers accented with pearl and diamante brooches. Each of the five tiers were lustre dusted in a shimmery champagne hue to further add to the glamorous, opulent feel. The final touch of elegance was provided by vintage pearls to the base of each of the lace piped tiers.

Blush Pink Ruffles

This four tier cake featured a blush pink ruffle design to the top and base tiers which was inspired by the amazing creativity of Leslea Matsis, and was adapted to replicate the David Austin roses that featured in the bridal bouquet and venue styling. The delicate ruffles were complimented by simple champagne lustre dusted tiers adorned with vintage pearls for a truly romantic feel.

Iconic Tiffany Boxes Wedding Cake

The inspiration for this four tier cake and the styling of the venue was Tiffany & Co. The cake in the iconic Tiffany blue colour was accented with a crisp white bow indicative of the simplicity of the Tiffany brand and was completed by a beautiful plinth of white hydrangeas.

Coral Flamenco Roses

This three tier design featured coral icing roses and hydrangea blossoms arranged in a simple, elegant formation which were accented with the addition of vintage lace to each tier. 

Peaches & Cream

This vintage lace birthday cake in hues of peach and cream featured a simply posy of icing roses with scattered blossoms and a pretty gift tag.

Isabella's Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake

This Minnie Mouse inspired design in pastel shades, with of course the addition of a pair of infamous mouse years, was created for a very special first birthday. The cake featured a focal polka dot bow, Minnie Mouse silhouettes, and pretty pink blossoms to the top tier. The base tier replicated Minnie's dress with bold polka dots and a pretty icing ruffle edge.

Vintage Parisian Chic

This design was largely influenced by the lace of the bridal gown and the vintage ambiance of the day. The top cake featured hand-piped lace brush embroidery which was accented with a cascading vintage lace bow. The vintage styled cupcakes in hues of ivory and pink featured hand made icing cameos, roses, shoes, bows and pearls with tuxedo style cupcakes for the male guests.

Pretty pastels wedding cake

This design focused on a crisp, clean colour palette of green and ivory - perfect for a spring or summer wedding. The mint green cake was decorated with hand piped lace embroidery and accented with hand made icing roses and blossoms in shades of ivory to replicate those of the bridal bouquet. Each of the four tiers was light, moist Victoria sponge filled with rich vanilla buttercream and strawberry conserve - perfect for Wimbledon season.

Lavender meadow garden party

This design in hues of purple featured handmade icing roses, cascading blossoms, hand painted vintage bunting all tied together with mini icing bows. The bunting and colour scheme matched the decor for the special birthday garden party.

Pink peonies and lace wedding cake

This four tier design featured vintage lace detailing to each tier and a focal peony to the top tier with a cascading lace bow. The cake was displayed on a plinth of beautiful pink peonies. Each tier was light Victoria sponge with vanilla buttercream and cherry conserve.

Summer Meadow Wedding Cake

This simple, understated cake replicated a previous design that the bride had seen on our blog, and fallen for. The focal point of the cake was a posy of hand made icing flowers, including roses, hydrangeas and freesias in pastel hues which were complimented by a hand piped "summer meadow" scene.

Country Garden Christening Cake

This country garden themed Christening cake was created for the very special daughter of one of our previous couples. The top tier featured hand made icing roses, blossoms and hydrangeas along with holly leaves and berries to symbolise Hollie herself. The bottom tier featured a garden scene with topiary trees, flowers and butterflies in pastel hues.

Floral Lace Wedding Cake

This four tier cake was created for Pratibha & Carwyn who were married at the beautiful Llansantffraed Court Hotel. This vintage design featured icing roses, peonies and hydrangeas in hues of champagne and pink; and hand piped, graduated lace embroidery to reflect the stunning bridal gown. The back of the cake featured Swarovski pearl detailing to replicate the delicate buttoning, again reminiscent of the bridal gown. The cake was displayed on a pressed glass cake stand in order to give a truly vintage feel.
